For years my time in the Bible ran hot and cold. Some seasons I could sit down and really study. Most seasons I couldn't, and my reading shrank to a verse grabbed in passing that was gone from my head by lunch.

What changed it for me was context. When I learned who a verse was actually written to, what their life looked like, and what was pressing in on them at that point in history, the words started to land. First what it meant to them, then what it means now. That was the piece I had been missing.

So I built a habit for myself: one verse a day with enough honest background to make it mean something, short enough to finish with my coffee. On the busiest days it kept me in the Word when I would have skipped it altogether. On slower days it pulled me deeper. I would open the chapter around the verse, read what came before it, pray on it.

I made this for me. After a while I figured it might help someone else the same way it helped me, so I started sharing it. That is the whole story.

A few minutes a day here is a supplement, a starting point. It does not replace reading your own Bible, your church, or people who know you. If a short daily entry is all your day allows, my prayer is that it still carries something real into it. And if an entry sends you deeper, into the full chapter, a commentary, or prayer, better still. That hope sits behind every entry.

You should know how something is made before you let it speak into your mornings, so here is the straight answer.

I am not a pastor or a scholar, and the insight in these entries is not mine. Each one draws on the written work of people who spent their lives studying Scripture: classic commentaries written across several centuries, dictionaries of the original Hebrew and Greek, and historical references on the people and places of the biblical world. I use modern AI tools to help me search that library, gather what those scholars said about a single verse, and distill it into a short, plain summary. The closest picture I can give you: it is like sitting in a room full of trusted teachers and asking each of them about the same verse.

A few things hold for every entry:

• The verse itself is never written or paraphrased by AI, or by me. It is quoted word for word from the English Standard Version (ESV).
• Before an entry publishes, it is checked against that scholarship, including a separate pass that goes looking for anything overstated or one-sided.
• The historic creeds of the church are a boundary I do not cross. Where faithful traditions disagree beyond them, I tell you they disagree instead of picking a winner.
